Students who are studying abroad are encouraged to share their experience with others.  Below you will find various ways to follow the international experience of some OCU students.

Students Complete a Medical Mission Trip to Honduras Over Spring Break
Twenty Kramer School of Nursing students, joined by a religion major, traveled to Honduras during Spring Break on a medical mission trip in partnership with Crossings Community Church and Hearts to Honduras. The program was part of a for-credit spring semester course on Community Health.

The team helped examine and treat 530 patients ranging in age from 3 months to 92 years. Some of their conditions included parasite infestation, malnutrition, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic pain, wound care and dementia. The clinics were unique in that student nurses were paired with registered nurses to provide primary care and health counseling. The teams also included Latino nurses and translators.  All clinics were held in open air facilities.

Other activities included visits to the Pan American Health orphanage, visits to preschools for marginalized children, and construction work where the team helped build a retaining wall for a local church. Students also toured Lake Yojoa by boat, visited two national parks known for spectacular waterfalls and attended a local church. They learned about conservation and political efforts initiated by local citizens.

Student Commentary
Each year the Oklahoma Academy holds a Town Hall focused on a particular topic. In 2012, that topic was "It's 2032, Where in the World is Oklahoma?" a theme that welcomes examination through numerous lenses from political, educational, environmental, and economic, just to name a few. Prior to the annual fall meeting, a publication is produced in which numerous professionals, politicians, academics, and students from across the state are invited to address the theme from a particular perspective . Below are essays by one OCU student and two OCU alumni who were invited to share their views about the importance of studying abroad and what they learned from their experiences abroad.
